The Pre Rut season is here and it’s time to look for the late season buck patterns. As the big boy’s start to set up there territories and stake their claim for the late season doe’s, where do we look for them? We start by looking for the rubs. The bigger the rub usually the bigger the buck. Set your stand up with a good view of the rub area and wait. The height of the rub is a good indication of how big the buck is.After the Rub season there is usually a secondary rub season for the unbred doe’s that come into season a second time. This is another chance to land a good size buck. After the secondary season the Bucks retreat back into the wilderness getting away from the possibility of running into hunters with the sound of big guns. The hunting gets more difficult when this happens but they can be still found. The use of Trail Cameras can help a lot to pinpoint Buck paths. Follow the food trail to find the buck’s. Buck’s like Green food! If you can find the green you can find the bucks.
